About Fish
Fish breathe by pulling water across their gills, where oxygen passes into the blood. Their shapes follow their homes: a swordfish built for open-ocean speed, a stingray flattened against the seafloor, a seahorse gripping seaweed with its tail. Some travel far, as salmon do when they leave the ocean and swim upstream to spawn. Others stay in a heated tank at home. This card mixes wild species like halibut and walleye with aquarium favorites and the body parts that make swimming work.
Reach for this during an ocean or pond unit, or before a trip to an aquarium or a fishing dock.
