What is a cryptogram?
A sentence with every letter swapped for another one, consistently: if E becomes Q once, it becomes Q everywhere. Solving it means spotting the patterns, usually starting with the one and two letter words.
How do the hints work?
A hint reveals one letter wherever it appears, which gives the solver a foothold. Three hints suits a classroom or a first attempt; none at all makes a short saying genuinely difficult.
What makes a cryptogram hard?
Length, more than anything. A long sentence repeats common letters often enough to show its patterns. A short one gives you very little to work from, which is why the hardest puzzles here are the briefest.
