About Flowers
Flowers exist to get pollen from one plant to another, and their shapes record which visitor they court: the snapdragon's hinged lip opens only under the weight of a bumblebee, while the sunflower's golden head is actually hundreds of tiny florets packed into spirals. Tulips grow from bulbs and orchids often perch on tree bark rather than soil. The names on this card span garden beds, roadside ditches, shrubs and vines, from lilac and magnolia to buttercup and morning glory.
Reach for this card in a spring gardening unit, at a garden club meeting, or with a group naming what is blooming outside the window.
