About Flowers
Flowers exist to move pollen, and nearly every feature on this list serves that job: the sunflower's disk is hundreds of tiny flowers packed together, the orchid's lower lip forms a landing pad for insects, and jasmine releases its scent after dark to reach night-flying moths. Others earned their names elsewhere. Tulip bulbs once traded at extraordinary prices in the Dutch Republic, and the iris takes its name from the Greek word for rainbow. Eighteen blooms are hidden in the grid.
