About Princess
A princess is the daughter of a monarch, or a woman who marries a prince, and the title carries duties as well as jewels: opening hospitals, greeting visiting heads of state, standing in for a parent at ceremonies. The words here come from both sides of that life. A scepter and a throne are working symbols of authority, used at coronations. A tiara is a smaller ornament than a crown, and a palace is a residence while a castle was built to be defended.
Reach for this sheet during a unit on monarchies, fairy tales, or medieval life, when students are sorting storybook images from historical ones.
