About Shapes
Shapes divide into two families on this sheet. Flat figures live on a page: a pentagon closes with five sides, a hexagon with six, an octagon with eight, and a rhombus keeps four equal sides while leaning off square. Solids take up space: a cube has six square faces, a sphere has none at all, and a cone narrows from a round base to a single point. A rectangle with four equal sides is also a square.
Reach for this when a geometry unit moves from naming flat figures to naming solids, and the vocabulary needs a second pass.
