About Fractions
A fraction names part of a whole: the denominator says how many equal pieces the whole was cut into, and the numerator counts how many you have. This card mixes the vocabulary (improper, equivalent, lowest terms) with the places fractions show up in daily life, from a quarter hour on the clock to fifty percent off. Squares like pizza slice and number line point to the two ways students usually meet halves and thirds: on a plate, and on a ruler.
A math teacher reaching for a review game during a unit on fractions, decimals, and percents.
