About Plants
Plants build their own food from sunlight, water, and carbon dioxide, and nearly every part named on this card plays a role in that work. Roots draw up water, leaves catch light, and flowers hand pollen off to bees and wind so seeds can form. Some entries here are strategies rather than parts: a cactus stores water in its stem, moss skips roots entirely, and bamboo is a grass that can grow astonishingly fast.
Reach for this card during a unit on plant parts and life cycles, or before a spring walk when you want students naming what they see.
