About Planets
Eight planets circle the Sun, and they sort neatly into two groups: the small rocky worlds close in, including Mars with its rusty surface and polar ice caps, and the gas and ice giants farther out, where Jupiter's Great Red Spot is a storm larger than Earth and Saturn's rings are made of countless pieces of ice and rock. This card mixes those worlds with the tools and objects that go with them: telescopes, rovers, space probes, comets, craters, and Pluto, reclassified as a dwarf planet in 2006.
Reach for this during an astronomy unit, a space-themed library hour, or a night before a family stargazing trip.
