About Football
American football gives a team four downs to gain ten yards, and nearly everything on this card grows out of that one rule: the first down that resets the count, the punt that gives up the ball, the fumble and interception that hand it over for free. A touchdown is worth six points, with a kick through the goalpost adding the extra point. Officials signal penalties by dropping a yellow flag, and games open with a coin toss.
