About Hockey
Hockey moves fast because the puck slides on ice with almost no friction; officials keep it that way with rules like icing and offside, which stop teams from simply flinging the puck downrink. A rink is marked by two blue lines and a red center line, and play restarts with a face-off after every whistle. Between periods, an ice resurfacer lays down a thin sheet of water that freezes smooth. Three goals by one skater is a hat trick.
