About Geography
Geography gives precise names to shapes of land and water: a narrow neck joining two landmasses is an isthmus, while a chain of islands is an archipelago. Rivers drop sediment where they meet the sea, building deltas; glaciers carve deep coastal inlets called fjords. Lines drawn on maps matter too, since the equator marks zero degrees latitude and meridians run pole to pole. Learn the vocabulary and a map stops being decoration and starts telling you how a place was made.
Reach for this in a middle school geography unit, or any time landform terms need review before a test.
