Common questions
Why did some of my words not appear in the grid?
A crossword only works when words share letters, so every entry has to cross something already placed. A word with unusual letters, or one much longer than the rest, sometimes has nowhere to go. You are told exactly which words were left out, and their clues come out with them so the numbering stays correct.
How many words does a crossword need?
Fifteen to twenty entries give the grid enough crossing points to place nearly all of them. With eight or fewer, a couple will often sit out.
What does the density setting do?
Density changes how much the words interlock. Tight grids are more satisfying to solve but harder to read at a distance. Loose grids suit large print and younger solvers.
