About Hanukkah
Hanukkah marks the rededication of the Temple in Jerusalem after the Maccabees reclaimed it, and it begins on the 25th of Kislev on the Hebrew calendar. Families light one additional flame each of the eight nights, using the shamash to kindle the others, and set the hanukkiah where passersby can see it. Foods fried in oil, latkes and sufganiyot among them, connect the table to the story. The card gathers those customs: the dreidel letters nun, gimel, hey and shin, gelt, blessings and songs.
Reach for this card when a class or a family gathering needs something to do together in the minutes after the candles are lit.
