About Thanksgiving
Thanksgiving falls on the fourth Thursday of November in the United States, a date fixed by Congress in 1941. President Abraham Lincoln called for a national day of thanks in 1863, during the Civil War. The table on this card holds the familiar dishes plus the objects around them: the gravy boat, the place cards, the carving knife, the wishbone set aside to dry. Beyond the dining room, the squares reach for the parade floats, marching bands, football, and the leftovers everyone counts on.
