About Mothers Day
Mother's Day in the United States falls on the second Sunday in May, and Anna Jarvis campaigned for it after her own mother's death, holding the first observance in 1908. She chose the carnation, her mother's favorite flower, which is why it turns up on this card alongside tulips, roses and a corsage. The other squares track how the day actually unfolds: breakfast in bed, a phone call, a crayon drawing handed over with both hands.
