About St Patricks Day
St. Patrick's Day falls on March 17, the traditional date marking the death of Saint Patrick, a missionary credited with spreading Christianity across Ireland in the fifth century. The shamrock became his emblem through the story that he used its three leaves to explain the Trinity. The harp, not the shamrock, is Ireland's official state symbol, and it appears on the country's coins. This card gathers those emblems alongside Dublin, Gaelic, step dancing, the fiddle and the tin whistle.
Reach for this card when a March classroom party or library program needs a group activity that keeps the holiday's Irish history in view.
