About Labor Day
Labor Day falls on the first Monday in September and honors the workers who built the country's roads, bridges, factories and schools. The earliest celebration was a parade in New York City in 1882, and Congress made the day a federal holiday in 1894. The squares on this card mix both halves of the holiday: the hard hats, toolboxes and union signs that carry the meaning, and the parades, cookouts and last swims that fill the long weekend.
Reach for this card at a September classroom party, a community picnic, or a family gathering the weekend the pools close.
