About Ramadan

Ramadan is the ninth month of the Islamic lunar calendar, when Muslims fast from dawn until sunset. The sighting of the crescent moon marks its beginning, and each day closes with iftar, a meal that many families open with dates and water. Before dawn comes suhoor, the early morning meal. The month also emphasizes zakat, charitable giving, and ends with the celebration of Eid al-Fitr. Squares here name the foods, sounds, and objects that fill those weeks, from the adhan to new clothes.

Reach for this when a classroom, library, or family gathering wants a shared activity during the month of Ramadan or in the days leading up to Eid.
