About Hockey
Hockey moves faster than almost any team sport, and its vocabulary reflects that: a rubber puck frozen before games so it slides rather than bounces, a blue line that governs offside, a crease no attacker may crowd. The Stanley Cup, awarded since the 1890s, carries the engraved names of winning players and staff. Between periods a resurfacing machine lays down fresh water that freezes into new ice. These clues cover rules, positions, penalties and equipment.
Reach for this sheet when a game is on later that evening, or when a youth team needs something to do on a long bus ride.
