About Plants

Plants build themselves out of air, water and light. Chlorophyll gives leaves their green color and captures the sunlight that powers the whole process, while roots pull up water and hold the plant steady. Some plants skip seeds entirely: ferns and mosses reproduce by spores instead. Others store food underground in a bulb, waiting out the cold. A cactus keeps water in its thick stem, and a thorn keeps hungry animals away from it.
