About Horses
Horses move through four natural gaits, and three of them show up on this sheet: the two-beat trot, the rolling three-beat canter, and the gallop, the fastest gait, in which all four hooves leave the ground at once. A newborn foal can usually stand and walk within hours of birth. Other words here cover the tack a rider uses, the barn and pasture where horses live, and the daily work of grooming and feeding.
Reach for this in a stable's lesson program, a 4-H club meeting, or any classroom working through a unit on farm and working animals.
