About Zoo Animals

Modern zoos do more than display animals: many run breeding programs for species that are struggling in the wild, including giant pandas, Grevy's zebras and black rhinos. The residents on this sheet come from wildly different homes. Penguins nest on cold southern coasts, meerkats live in family groups in southern African deserts, and giraffes browse treetops with tongues long enough to strip leaves past thorns.
