About April Fools
April Fools' Day falls on the first of April, and no one can point to the moment it started. Newspapers, radio stations and even museums have joined in over the years, running straight-faced stories about spaghetti harvests and invented animals until readers wrote in. The rules are mostly unwritten: the trick should be harmless, and it ends with the reveal, the moment a jester drops the act and someone admits they fell for it. This crossword works through the vocabulary of that day.
Reach for this in the last week of March, when a classroom or a family is already trading plans for the first.
