About Jobs
Every job on this grid answers a question somebody had to solve: who keeps the water running, who lands the plane, who checks the wiring before the walls go up. Some of the work here is very old. Barbers once pulled teeth, and the striped pole outside their shops recalls that bloodier era, while dentistry became a separate trained profession much later. Others, like electricians, exist only because of technology invented in the last two centuries. Fifteen answers, each one a working life.
Reach for this during a careers unit or a classroom conversation about what people do all day and how they learned to do it.
