About Ancient Rome
Rome grew from a city on the Tiber into an empire ringing the Mediterranean, governed first as a republic with elected consuls and a senate, later by emperors. Its engineers moved water across valleys on stone aqueducts and paved roads that armies marched along in legions. Words on this sheet reach into daily life too: the toga, the amphora that carried oil and wine, the mosaic floors, and Latin, the language behind much of the vocabulary you use.
Reach for this sheet when a class or a curious reader is working through ancient history and needs the key terms to stick.
