About Chemistry

Chemistry keeps track of what everything is made of and what happens when those pieces meet. An element cannot be broken into simpler substances by chemical means, while a compound like water joins hydrogen and oxygen in fixed proportions. Mix salt into water and you get a mixture you can separate again by evaporation. Acids and bases neutralize each other. Carbon bonds with itself in long chains, which is why it forms millions of known compounds, more than any other element.

Reach for this when a middle school science class needs to lock down lab vocabulary before the first titration or crystal-growing unit.
