About Biology
Biology works across a huge range of scale. A neuron carries signals in fractions of a second, mitosis divides one cell into two, and a habitat holds thousands of species in ongoing relationship. The words hidden here move up that ladder: membrane and nucleus inside a single cell, then tissue, skeleton, organism. Bacteria and fungi are living things in their own right, while a virus depends on a host cell to copy itself at all.
Reach for this page in a middle school or introductory high school life science class, when students are reviewing cell structure and classification vocabulary before a unit test.
