About Mindfulness
Mindfulness means paying attention to what is happening right now, on purpose and without judging it. Much of the practice is plainer than it sounds: sitting with a steady posture, following the breath in and out, and noticing when the mind has wandered off to lunch or last Tuesday. The body scan moves attention slowly from head to feet. Clues here cover that vocabulary, from mantra and silence to gratitude, patience, and acceptance.
Health teachers, counselors, and anyone leading a quiet start to the day will find this a useful warm-up before a short seated practice.
