About Farm Animals
A working farm runs on a vocabulary of ages and sexes: a young horse is a foal, a young cow a calf, a young sheep a lamb. This crossword gathers barnyard residents and their offspring, from the rooster who crows and the hen who lays, to the goat that browses on brush rather than grazing grass. Ducks and geese are waterfowl, turkeys are native to the Americas, and alpacas, raised in the Andes for fleece, now graze pastures worldwide.
Reach for this in an elementary classroom studying farms and animal life cycles, or at home before a visit to a county fair or petting zoo.
