About Fish
Fish breathe by pulling water across their gills, where thin blood vessels pick up dissolved oxygen. Most have fins for steering and scales for protection, and many travel in a school, a formation that makes it harder for a predator to single out one target. The clues here cover familiar food fish like salmon, tuna and halibut alongside the seahorse, which swims upright, and the clownfish, which shelters among sea anemones. A shark rounds out the list.
Reach for this during an ocean or pond unit, or after a trip to an aquarium, when students have just met these animals and want the names to stick.
