About Snow

Snow forms when water vapor freezes directly onto tiny particles high in a cloud, building six-sided crystals that grow arms as they fall. No two take quite the same path down, which is why they land in such variety. On the ground, snow behaves differently by the hour: light and dry enough to blow into drifts one morning, wet and heavy enough to pack into a snowball by afternoon, then gray slush along the curb once plows and traffic get to it.

Reach for this during a winter weather unit, or on the kind of snow day that keeps everyone indoors.
